In the final quarter of 2025, we focused on two major goals: removing friction from your daily workflows and strengthening the security standards you rely on. From a streamlined way to send documents in seconds to expanded QES capabilities across Europe, this article provides an overview of the most significant updates from Q4.
1. A faster, simpler way to send documents for signing
We’ve launched a faster, more streamlined way to create case files. It is designed for your most common use cases that don’t need complex, multi-round signing (e.g. contracts, NDAs, agreements, etc.)
Now you can:
- Send documents for signing in under a minute.
- Enjoy a simple interface that guides you intuitively.
- Access the core functionality you’re already used to, integrated into the new experience.
2. Qualified Electronic Signatures with Norwegian BankID, Belgian eID, and ID Verifier alongside itsme® QES
A Qualified Electronic Signature (QES) is the most secure type of digital signature. It provides the highest legal validity under the EU’s eIDAS regulation.
When you and your signers use Norwegian BankID, Belgian eID or passport through ID Verifier app, the resulting signature is now QES.
Similarly, Penneo has been offering QES via itsme® for some time and has just expanded its international coverage. itsme® now supports all 27 EU countries as well as the UK, Norway and Iceland.

3. Penneo API updates
Unified API access to account-wide data
We’ve introduced a new “Super API User” role to simplify data extraction from Penneo Sign via API. This user role provides a single, unified API key with access to documents and data across your account.
Simplified case file creation via API
We’ve introduced a new method that allows you to send case files with a single API request, designed to maximise simplicity and efficiency for your integrations.
4. NRN validation with itsme® in Belgium
We’ve enabled National Register Number (NRN) validation when signing with itsme®, allowing organizations to ensure a document is signed only by the specific individual required. While this functionality is available, we advise its use only by organizations authorized in Belgium to process NRN data.
5. Scroll-through functionality
An optional setting is now available that requires signers to scroll through the full document before signing.
